Vinton is an unincorporated community in Plumas County, California.^[1] It lies at an elevation of 4,947 feet (1,508 m).^[1] Vinton is located 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Chilcoot.^[2]

For census purposes, Vinton is included in the census-designated place (CDP) of Chilcoot-Vinton.

The Vinton post office opened in 1897.^[2] The name honors Vinton Bowen, daughter of a Sierra Valley Railway official.^[2]
