Michael Christoper "Topex" Robinson (born December 25, 1979 in Olongapo City, Zambales) is a Filipino former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. He was drafted forty-fourth overall by the Tanduay Rhum Masters.
Player Profile
Robinson is a solid and a defensive point guard. His career averages are 4.3 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per game and 1 steals per game. Played for Montaña in the PBL alongside Gary David, he was then was signed as a free agent by Yeng Guiao on 2003 to play for Red Bull Thunder as a back up point guard for Jimwell Torion.
After the 2008 PBA Fiesta Conference ended, the Red Bull Barako waived him alongside Mark Andaya and Paolo Bugia. He was immediately signed by the Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants in the 2008-09 PBA season.[1] During the 2010 PBA Fiesta Conference, he was signed by Alaska. He also first played for the San Juan Knights in the MBA.
Coaching career
Robinson was named coach of the RnW Pacific Pipes team in the PBA D-League during the 2011 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.[2] The team was eliminated in the quarterfinals by the FCA Cultivators.
On June 2011, Robinson was named coach of the . He replaced Turo Valenzona, his coach while he played with the Stags in 1996.After the Stags lost to the San Beda Red Lions in the Finals of the NCAA Season 87 Robinson had a big achievement in the 2011 Philippine Collegiate Championship beating the 4-time UAAP champions and 2-time Philippine Collegiate Championship champions the Ateneo Blue Eagles in 2 games to end the year right on a winning note.[3] In 2012, He returned to PBA as he joined the Alaska Aces as an assistant coach to Luigi Trillo (2012-2014) and Alex Compton (2014–Present) where he remains today.
