Sumar (Persian: سومار; also Romanized as Sūmār, Soormar, and Sowmār)[1] is a small city in and the capital of Sumar District, in Qasr-e Shirin County, Kermanshah Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 20, in 15 families, making it Iran's least populous settlement with city status.[2] Virtually the entire population of Sumar was killed by an Iraqi chemical attack, and the city destroyed during the Iran-Iraq War. It has not been rebuilt.
