Remetea (Hungarian: Magyarremete) is a commune in Bihor County, west of Romania. It is composed of five villages: Drăgoteni (Drágota), Meziad (Mézged), Petreasa (Petrász), Remetea and Șoimuș (Gyepüsolymos).
General information
The nearest town is Beiuș, around 10 kilometers to the south.
Population
The commune has a population of 3513 inhabitants.
According to the 2002 census the population structure is:
- Romanians 80.58%
- Hungarians 16.52%
- Gypsies 2.79%
- Others 0.11%
The percentage of Hungarians is higher in Remetea village.
