Placer is a second class municipality in the province of Masbate, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 55,438 people.[3]
Placer was created as a municipality from the barrio of the same name which used to belong to Cataingan, Masbate, by virtue of Republic Act No. 292, passed June 16, 1948.[4]
