The Peter Solis Nery Foundation or The Peter Solis Nery Foundation for Hiligaynon Literature and the Arts, Inc. is a private foundation, founded by Peter Solis Nery in the Philippines in 2012.[1] The primary aim of the foundation is to promote, preserve, and propagate Hiligaynon literature, and Filipino art and culture, through research, publications, productions, education, and cultural dissemination.[2] The foundation administers a literary competition that awards the Peter's Prize,[3] and publishes literature in Hiligaynon.[4]

History

The foundation was established in September 2012,[5] by award-winning Filipino author and champion of the Hiligaynon language Peter Solis Nery, right after his induction into the Palanca Awards Hall of Fame.[6] The foundation, which aims to promote, preserve, and propagate Hiligaynon literature, and Filipino art and culture, through research, publications, productions, education, and cultural dissemination, was incorporated by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission on November 5, 2012.[7] Following immediately, the foundation created the Peter’s Prize for Excellence in Hiligaynon Writing that first gave out awards in September 2013.[8] In May 2014, the foundation sponsored a month-long online Hiligaynon poetry workshop called Poem-a-thon with Peter Solis Nery.[9] In August 2014, the foundation published five anthology books of new Hiligaynon writings culled from the Peter’s Prize competitions and the Poem-a-thon workshop.[10]
