The Nigeria Trade Office in Taiwan, R.O.C. (Chinese: 奈及利亞駐華商務辦事處; pinyin: Nàijílìyǎ Zhù Huá Shāngwù Bànshì Chù) represents the interests of Nigeria in Taiwan in the absence of formal diplomatic relations, functioning as a de facto embassy.
Its counterpart in Nigeria is the Trade Mission of the ROC (Taiwan), Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria in Abuja.[2]
The Office is currently headed by Acting Trade Commissioner Mr. I.A Mohammad, who previously held the position of Deputy Trade Commissioner since 2001.
Although the Office uses the abbreviation "R.O.C." ("Republic of China") in its title, Nigeria has diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China since 1971.[3] In 2005, the two countries issued a joint communiqué reaffirming that Beijing was "the only legitimate government representing the whole of China and Taiwan is an unalienable part of its territory".[4]
