The 12601 Mangalore Mail(alternatively the 12602 Chennai Mail)[1] is a super fast daily operated by the Indian Railways(Southern Railway) between the cities of Chennai and Mangalore via several places of importance including Vellore(Katpadi), Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore(Podanur), Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur. This train is considered by many to be the contemparary to the Thiruvananthapuram Mail. Just like the Trivandrum mail which has more stops in South Kerala, this train has more stops in North Kerala (Malabar region), mainly between Shoranur Junction and Mangalore Central showing that this train is chiefly meant for the people of this region.

The train shares its rake with the West Coast Express that also traverses the same route.
