List of governors of Punjab (British India)
The Punjab was annexed in 1849 by the British East India Company through the Treaty of Lahore after the Second Anglo-Sikh War. In 1849 the Punjab became a province of British India.

Post 1947
In 1947, the British Raj came to an end and the countries of India and Pakistan were created. The Punjab was partitioned into West Punjab and East Punjab, with the former joining Pakistan and the latter India.
In Pakistan, the first governor of West Punjab was Sir Francis Mudie. In 1955, the province of West Punjab was dissolved, and became Punjab province. Please see here for a list of the governors of Punjab in Pakistan.
