Jackie Cahill is a Fianna Fáil politician, and Teachta Dála (TD) for the Tipperary constituency, elected at the 2016 general election, on his first attempt.
He has been a member of Tipperary County Council since 2014 and is a former president of the ICMSA, a national farmers' union.[1]
He was selected in May 2015 by Fianna Fáil members to contest the upcoming Irish General Election, defeating 4 other contenders, including Michael Smith, the son of former Defence Minister Mick Smith. Deputy Cahill was also praised for his social media campaign, awarded one of the best in the country.[2]
