"I Don't Know How She Does It" is the fifteenth episode of the seventh season and the 159th episode overall of the American sitcom Modern Family. It aired on March 2, 2016 on American Broadcasting Company (ABC). The episode is directed by Ryan Case and written by Jeffrey Richman.[1]
Plot
Phil (Ty Burrell) notices that Claire (Julie Bowen) is seen as a heroine by Haley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winter) and Luke (Nolan Gould) since she manages to both being at the top in professional and personal tasks she is given to perform. Since he does not want to be the weak man, he offers to make the kids personal’s duties as buying a dress for Haley, a birthday present for Maisie and cooking lasagna and cupcakes for Luke’s team, a task which happens to be complicated since he has an open house on the same day. He manages to make all which is on his list, but Haley and Alex remain frustrated. Little does he know that Claire actually never performs a single personal task alone, as her assistant Ben helped her in order to make her less tired. But when Phil secretly overhears a conversation between Claire and Ben, he learns that Claire misses to be a mom and after Ben leaves without ever seeing him, he decides to help her by showing her that he will always be by her side.
Luke convinces Manny (Rico Rodriguez), to skip school in order to see nude pictures of women. When Gloria’s laptop becomes stuck, they go to a shop to get it fixed. Luke recognizes his former baby-sitter and he and Manny leave abruptly when they realise she works there and would see the laptop. Alex manages to fix the computer, while giving Joe mixed signals, which makes the boys confused.
At the same time, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) go to a wedding with Lilly (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons), but they find themselves not feeling welcomed. As they search for who they might have been offended, Pepper tells them that they didn't come to the two previous weddings and never showed any sign of appreciation for being invited to the ceremony. Lilly reveals that she actually answered in their place because she didn't like the way they dance at weddings and was embarrassed of them.
Jay (Ed O'Neill) and Gloria (Sofía Vergara) also have their secrets in this episode. Jay dislikes Gloria’s food and Gloria often forgets about Joe and leaves him in the car while he is sleeping. They both want to have a little nap since Joe is especially difficult to bear because he deprives them from sleep. However, both fall asleep while waiting for the other falls asleep too, so that they can go and fix their own problem.
