Heinävesi is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the Southern Savonia region. The municipality has a population of 3,562 (31 March 2016)[2] and covers an area of 1,318.99 square kilometres (509.26 sq mi) of which 288.71 km2 (111.47 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 3.46 inhabitants per square kilometre (9.0/sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

The, until late 1990s, only Nordic Orthodox monasteries New Valamo Monastery and the Lintula Holy Trinity Convent are located in Heinävesi.
