Hamra is a settlement on the Swedish island of Gotland. Formerly a socken,[3] on 1 January 2016, it was reconstituted into the administrative area Hamra District.[4]
Geography
Hamra is situated on the southeastern tip of Gotland.[5] The medieval Hamra Church is located in the socken.[6] The small Vändburg harbor and Hammarhage Hällar sea stack area are also in Hamra.[7][8]
Hamra has given its name to the Hamra formation, one of the Silurian sedimentary rock formation that Gotland is made up of.[9]
One of the asteroids in the asteroid belt, 9373 Hamra, is named after this place.[10]
