Civate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northeast of Milan and about 4 kilometres (2 mi) southwest of Lecco. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,898 and an area of 9.1 square kilometres (3.5 sq mi).[1] Lago di Annone is located on its borders.
Civate borders the following municipalities: Annone di Brianza, Canzo, Cesana Brianza, Galbiate, Suello, Valmadrera. The Dutch footballer Dennis Bergkamp, from 1993 to 1995, when he played for Inter, he chose the city of Civate to live with his family.
