Zeysky District (Russian: Зе́йский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the twenty in Amur Oblast, Russia. The area of the district is 87,486 square kilometers (33,779 sq mi).[4] Its administrative center is the town of Zeya[2] (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 16,847(2010 Census);[5] 20,827 (2002 Census);[8] 42,298(1989 Census).[9]

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Zeysky District is one of the twenty in the oblast.[1] The town of Zeya serves as its administrative center,[2] despite being incorporated separately as an urban okrug—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1]

As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Zeysky Municipal District.[3] Zeya Urban Okrug is incorporated separately from the district.[10]
