Wiretap is a progressive/liberal English language online news and culture website that emerged from the youth-oriented project of AlterNet and became an independent, self-sustaining publication. Their stated mission is to "mentor and train young journalists, citizen reporters, bloggers and provide a daily platform for young activists, social entrepreneurs, and artists from across the country." [1]

Wiretap partnered with Rock the Vote in 2008 for their Rock the Trail campaign, and found five youth reporters to interview relevant political figures during the 2008 Presidential Campaign. The content was also published on the BET website.[2]

It was the 2004 winner of the Webby Award in the Youth category.[3]
