Walla Walla Football Club

The Walla Walla Football Club is an Australian rules football club that plays in the Hume Football League in southern New South Wales. The club's nickname is the Hoppers (short for grasshopper), the current guernsey design consists of green and white stripes on the front with an all green rear. Their home ground is the Walla Walla Sportsground in Walla Walla.

The club was originally formed in 1903 and played ad hoc matches against other clubs in the district. However it did not participate in regular competition until 1910, when it began to compete in various associations against other local clubs. In 1917-18 the club went into recess due to World War I, before resuming in 1919. It joined the Hume Football League in 1935, where it has continued to field teams (aside from a recess due to World War II) to this day.

During the 2015/16 off season both the Walla Hoppers and Rand-Walbundrie Tigers football clubs entered merger talks for 2016 Hume Football League season. The draw for the 2016 season is umlauted but the Hume league has reportedly release a provisional draw for all clubs in the league should the merger go ahead. Voting for the proposed merger took place on Monday March 7 (2016). The Walla Walla Hoppers members voted 100 per cent in favour of the joint venture; while The Rand-Walbundrie Tigers voted 83 per cent in favour of the joint venture. The club’s new name and colours will be discussed at a committee meeting at Walbundrie on the night of Tuesday March 8 (2016). The Hume league is expected to release the revised draw to the public with-in the next week.[1]
