"Wait Until the Weekend Comes" was the Irish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1985, performed in English by Maria Christian.
The song is a ballad, with Christian pleading with her lover not to leave immediately, but rather to "wait until the weekend comes" and see how he feels then. She sings that he has previously felt more positive about their relationship over the weekend, so she hopes that this will be the case again.
The song was performed first on the night, preceding Finland's Sonja Lumme with "Eläköön elämä". At the close of voting, it had received 91 points, placing 6th in a field of 19.
It was succeeded as Irish representative at the 1986 contest by Luv Bug with "You Can Count On Me".
