WDGR (1210 AM) is a radio station identified in U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) records as licensed but silent, meaning that while the station has a valid broadcasting license, it is not transmitting as of January 18, 2012.[1] In the suspension of broadcasting notification submitted to the FCC, station management cited water damage to the transmitter as the cause and stated their intent to resume broadcasting.[2] Licensed to Dahlonega, Georgia, USA, the station is owned by Usk Broadcasting, Inc. and featured a country music format with programming from Westwood One.[3]

History

WDGR was founded by William S. Kinsland and Michael Hollifield (both residents of Dahlonega, GA), dba "Blue Ridge Radio Co. Inc." The first license applications were filed in 1977. After extensive litigation with competing applications, the initial Construction Permit was issued in 1981. The station went on the air as WAAH on 1982-03-01. Initially, the station operated on a frequency of 1520 kHz at an authorized power of 500 watts. On 1982-08-01, the station changed its call sign to the current WDGR. In October 1982, Kinsland sold his interest in the station to Kevin Croom.[4]
