Vehicle registration plates of Myanmar
Vehicle registration plates of Burma started before 1996. The current version started in 1996 and has been updated in recent years.
Current plates contain a three letter regional code (such as YGN for Yangon) above a six character alphanumeric serial number. As of 2015, new plates are now fully written in Latin characters, although older plates with all Burmese characters are still common, particularly on older vehicles. There are several types of license plates in Myanmar, colored and sized differently depending on vehicle and service as shown in the table below.

A dog lies under a vehicle with black private registration plates from Yangon (YGN). Two numbers on the plate have been omitted to protect the identity of the vehicle owner.
Another dog hopes for a handout under a commercially registered vehicle, possibly a taxi, in Yangon. This vehicle carries registration plates with all Latin Characters, with the regional/city code of YGN for Yangon.
