Vega Telecommunications Group is among the leading players of the Ukrainian market of fixed telephony, broadband Internet access and data transfer. Vega is a member of the telecommunication business of Ukraine's leading financial and industrial group System Capital Management.
Vega Telecommunications Group owns a network of a national coverage and provides telecommunications services in 159 towns of 22 regions of Ukraine. Today Vega serves about 440 000 subscribers of telephone lines and 156 000 subscribers of Internet access.
The operational management of Vega Telecommunications Group is carried out by PrJSC «Farlep-Invest».
History
Vega Telecommunications Group appeared on the Ukrainian telecommunications market on October 15, 2008 through the merging of the largest Ukrainian telecommunications groups Farlep and Optima Telecom, as well as companies Ucomline, CSS, IP Telecom, Matrix, Vilcom and others.[1][2]
The story of Vega Telecommunications Group started in 1994, when its major members were established, and later included into Farlep group in Odessa and Optima-Telecom in Dnipropetrovsk. Both companies had innovative technologies for that time, such as digital telephony.
By 2005 Farlep-Invest Holding had consolidated the following assets:
- The third largest Ukrainian alternative operator Farlep (covered 150 000 subscribers);
- International communications operator Ucomline;
- Manufacturer of telecommunications equipment Farlep 2000.
By 2005 Optima-Telecom had had over 300 000 subscribers in 13 Ukrainian cities.[2]
In 2005 Ukraine's leading financial and industrial group System Capital Management has acquired Farlep-Invest Holding and Optima Telecom, and consolidated these assets into Farlep-Optima group. From 2005 to 2008 SCM has acquired and successfully merged a number of assets, including companies CSS, IP Telecom, Matrix, Vilcom, and over 30 others.
Management
On June 3, 2015 the CEO of Vega Telecommunications Group became Murat Cinar.
From October 2013 to June 2014 the company JSC "Farlep Invest", which provides operational management of the telecommunications group Vega, was headed by Sergei Shulga.
Activities
Vega Telecommunications Group is among the leading players of the Ukrainian market of fixed telephony, broadband Internet access and data transfer.
Vega Telecommunications Group has a complete set of licenses for providing fixed-line services across the territory of Ukraine: local, long distance and international telephony, as well as the right to lease channels of communication.
Vega Telecommunications Group has built an international point of transition in the backbone networks, and signed contracts with 29 international and all major national carriers. Vega is also included in the largest traffic exchange points in Europe (UA-IX, DTEL-IX, MSK-IX, DE-CIX, GLBX, AMSIX).
Ucomline is a wholesale division of VEGA TELECOM Group acting on international markets.
Ucomline has fiber-optical cross-border connections with neighboring partners in Poland and Russia and routes through Hungary and Slovakia in the direction of international exchange points. International points of presence organized in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Warsaw and Moscow, give Ucomline the opportunity to work in partnership with more than 30 leading international operators, among which are British Telecom, Verizon, Rostelecom, TTK, LANCK Telecom, WIS Telecom, Interoute, Belgacom, TATA Communications, iBasis, Exatel and Vimpelcom.
