Umar Salamov (born 7 June 1994, Alkhan-Kala, Russia) is a Russian light-heavyweight professional boxer. Salamov has held the WBO Youth World Light Heavyweight title, IBO Youth World Light Heavyweight title and is the current IBO World Light Heavyweight Champion. Salamov is currently ranked 8th in the WBO world rankings and 19th in Boxrec independent computerized rankings.[1]

Move to America

In May 2016, Salamov moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to start at a new training camp in Kevin Barry's gym. Barry is well known for training legendary boxers like David Tua, former WBA World middleweight Champion Maselino Masoe, three time world champion Beibut Shumenov and former IBF World Super Featherweight Champion Robbie Peden. Barry is training Salamov, alongside IBF Mandatory Heavyweight challenger and ranked 1st in WBO Joseph Parker and WBO ranked 12th Izu Ugonoh.[2] Since moving into this training camp, Salamov has won the IBO World title.
