Uchalan is a village which located at south of Burdwan (Barddhaman) district on Arambagh-Burdwan highway in West Bengal state, India.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census Uchalan had a population of 6806. Males constitute of 58% of the population and females 42%. Uchalan has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy rate is 82%, and female literacy is 69%. At Uchalan, 10% of the population is under 10 years of age.
Uchalan is a historical village, where remain of Mughal Battle (Fort) is found. A large man-made lake measuring 62 acre situated towards North-South at the heart of this village. This lake at Uchalan which is dug by King Sher Shah Suri during his rule (1540 A.D.-1545 A.D.) in India. There were Mughal Inn (Sarai khana) at the bank of lake which was converted to daak-bungalow (post office) during British rule.
Uchalan is a vast and developing village where it has one higher secondary school, two government recognized primary schools, and two private schools for primary education. There is a one sub-post office, two nationalised banks, one petrol pump, seventeen rice mill, one animal health center, one State government circle office, and one state government affiliated library is located.

There are many ponds within the village which is balancing eco-system. Proposed Arambagh-Bowaichandi railway line will run through inside this village.
