Tripet Garielle is a British Indian Bollywood singer based in London, UK, who sings in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

Early life

Tripet grew up in Westminster, U.K.. Her parents were from Africa and grandparents from India, hence she has had her roots in the land of Bollywood. From an early age she had been into learning instruments, dancing, poetry writing and singing. Although singing was a passion she was encouraged not to pursue it; instead academics was given more importance by her parents. But with an artistic soul she grew up writing poetry which turned into songwriting. She had never set out to be a singer but music had always been an important part of her soul. After being praised by many for a great voice and she put together her desire to learn new languages, songwriting and music into action.^[1]

Career

It was a tough ride for Tripet, as she didn’t know any Indian Languages^[2] and was told she could never sing in a dialect close to her heart. But through true determination and passion she overcome her biggest challenge i.e. singing with the correct accent. She spent years studying ‘Indian Language & Literature’ and worked tirelessly with expert vocal coaches ‘Chiranjib Chakraborty’ of India and ‘Nisar Daniel’ of Pakistan.

Her first break came with musical genius ‘Jawad Hyder’ aka ‘JKD’ who composed and produced her debut single ‘Palkaan'^[3] in 2014. Whilst JKD wasn’t taking on any new artists at the time, she knew when she first met him that this meeting was beyond a coincidence and was determined to do whatever it took to work with him. A year later she knocked on his door - not knowing that behind this knock awaited a sanctuary leading to a mysterious adventure – ‘Palkaan.’ The song had South American Jazz acoustics infused with a Bollywood vibe - hitting all major Bollywood music channels and was an overnight success. With JKD she also released her second song ‘Aaz Ma Le’ - an edgy rock funk with Bollywood inspired sound.

For her latest Debut Solo Album – ‘Woh Pal’, she joined forces with renowned vocalist/ guitarist / director cum producer ‘Atif Ali’. (He has worked with many mainstream artists like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Sajid-Wajid, Salim-Sulaiman, Pritam, Sajjad Ali, Bappi Lahiri, etc.) ^[4]

In 2015, she released her Lead Single 'Woh Pal’. This smooth romantic acoustic Bollywood style love song garnered her great praise and interest from all. Most recently, Tripet released her second single called ‘Aa Vee Jaa’ – an urban Bollywood style sound. ‘Aa Vee Jaa’ ^[5] was picked up by a lot of Bhangra sites and blogged about. It is commended by Hungama as a ‘Beat with Attitude’, and Parag Kamani (Music Critic) as “Reminiscent of the ‘80s Indi-pop sounds [as against the ‘10s indie-pop sounds]”.

Her greatest musical influences have been Lata Mangeshkar, Shreya Goshal, Arabic singer Amr Diab and her producer Atif Ali. Her western influences are Alicia Keys & Mariah Carey.

Her music is universal although Bollywood inspired and dominated. Her Debut Solo Album -Woh Pal has various genres - from Dance, Acoustic, Ambient Lounge, Romantic to Sufi Rock. She can sing in different genres at any tempo. Every track even on her 'Woh Pal' Album is totally different to one another.
