Toby Lanzer

Toby Lanzer (born 1965), a national of the United Kingdom, is currently a United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and the Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Sahel, including for the Lake Chad basin. He took up his current duties on 21 July 2015. Since joining UNDP in 1992, he has held various positions in the UN system, including:

He has also worked in Brazil, Chile and Georgia.

The holder of a post-graduate certificate in forced migration, a master's degree in international affairs, with a specialization in economic and political development, and a bachelor's degree in history, Toby Lanzer was educated at the University of Oxford, as well as Columbia University and the University of New Hampshire.

Lanzer was expelled from South Sudan on 1 June 2015 with no reason given by the South Sudanese government.[2]
