Tjapko Poppens

Tjapko Poppens (born July 31 1970) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He has been mayor of Wijk bij Duurstede since late 2012.[1] He grew up in the province of Groningen and graduated in Economics of Agriculture and Environment at the Wageningen University with a major in business and administration. In 2005 he became a councilor in Deventer and from 2007 he was VVD leader. Additionally Poppens was a corporate staff director in the municipality of Enschede. Tjapko Poppens is married and is the father of three children.[2]
