The Wind is Watching

The Wind is Watching is an American dystopian film directed by Conrad Faraj, written by Candyce Cook. Production began in mid-2012, with filming taking place in 28 locations across Northeast Ohio.^[1]

Plot

In a rural dystopia, a nuclear contamination in the Pacific Ocean has provoked a second civil war. A young farm girl named Cara Gardner (Nicole Ann Hicks) must embark on a journey through war-torn America to rescue her only remaining family.

According to the film's director, 70% of the film was shot in Shelby, Ohio and Mansfield, Ohio, with some scenes having been shot at the Ohio State Reformatory.^[2]

Reception

The Wind is Watching received mixed-to-positive reviews from viewers, with 6.9/10 from 15 user ratings on IMDb and no ratings whatsoever on Rotten Tomatoes. One major criticism for the film's production that many carried was that the film simply did not have an effective-enough distribution with its smaller budget, as it only had one limited release showing in Cleveland, Ohio at the Tower City Cinemas theater. Facebook posts on The Wind is Watching's Facebook page seem to indicate this as well, with many visitor posts asking the page where they can purchase the film - showing a clear interest without response as there is (as of November 18th, 2016) no method to purchase either a digital copy of the film on iTunes or Amazon, nor any known distributor selling DVD/other physical copies. Many posts on social media regarding the film seem to indicate a growing public interest in the work following its release, but speculation indicates that without a way to view or purchase the movie that the potential fan-base for the film may soon dissipate as memory of the film becomes irrelevant without support and communications from Conrad Studios or its affiliates.
