The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 1953

This is a list of adult fiction books that topped The New York Times Fiction Best Seller list in 1953.[1]

East of Eden was John Steinbeck's 15th book and first No. 1 bestseller. It first reached the top in November 1952 and spent 11 weeks there overall. The other big news in 1953 was Thomas B. Costain who was the first novelist to have four books reach the top sellers list with The Silver Chalice.[2]
