The Dragon's Blood (Italian: Sigfrido, also known as La leggenda dei Nibelunghi) is a 1957 Italian epic adventure film co-written and directed by Giacomo Gentilomo. It is loosely based on Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen.[1][2]

Special effects
The film was notable at the time for the depiction of the dragon. This several metres long prop was created by Carlo Rambaldi, launching Rambaldi's career as a creature designer. Years later, Rambaldi moved to Hollywood, working in such films as King Kong (1976), Alien (1979), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Dune (1984) or Conan the Destroyer (1984), among others.
