Talib Haider (Urdu: حیدر طالب) is a television journalist and a news presenter. He has worked as a broadcaster in Pakistan since 2004. Haider currently presents news bulletins featuring political, current affairs, sport, business and local news at Geo News.[1]

Education

Haider attended the BVS Parsi High School in Karachi. After school, he went to DJ Science College. He completed his BBA and then MBA at the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi. Haider later studied in London and completed his Masters degree in TV Journalism at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Awards and scholarships

In 2006, Haider received a Chevening Scholarship from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to study Media in the United Kingdom.[2]

Business and economics

Haider has worked in the Television industry since 2004. He started his career at Geo News Television Channel, presenting/producing economic and financial programs: Bazaar and Tezi Mandee. He has covered the Federal Budget of Pakistan through special transmissions and live programs since 2004.[3]

In 2007, Haider hosted a special series "Energy Crisis in Pakistan" which highlighted the underlying problems in the energy industry in Pakistan[4]

Sport

Haider has co-presented the Cricket World Cup 2007 at Geo News and presented the Football World Cup 2006 and Football World Cup 2010 in a special program: KICK-OFF.

Special coverage (Elections, Correspondence, Live transmissions)

Haider hosted the United States Presidential Election 2004 and 2008 programs. In 2008 elections, he hosted a series of special programs focussing on US-Pakistan relations and an 8 hour long live transmission on the election day.

In 2010, he hosted a 10-hour special coverage of the United Kingdom General Election 2010. In 2010 and 2011, Haider presented Geo Awami Budget, a special project for Pakistani citizens which aims to look at the financial health of the country from a common man's perspective.[5] Haider also led a team of business students who surveyed a number of Pakistani citizens on the economic issues that were shown on Geo TV.
