Sydney Starkie (born 4 April 1926 in Burnley, Lancashire) was an English professional Cricketer wh spent all of his 6 season career at Northamptonshire. Starkie was an Off-break Bowler, and in his 95 games that stretched from 1951-1956 he bowled 13547 deliveries for 5685 runs, 604 Maidens, and 166 Wickets. He is, however, best remembered for one particular batting feat; In 1955 Starkie and Raman Subba Row set a club record of 156 for the highest 9th Wicket partnership. The record still stands today. As was common at the time, Sydney Starkie was a one-club player, and he was rewarded for his service; with his county cap in 1954.
