Member of Legislative Assembly
The current MLA is Sue Hammell, a member of the New Democratic Party of British Columbia who was first elected in 1991. She has served in a number of cabinet posts, including Minister of Multiculturalism and Immigration (2000–01), Minister Responsible for the Public Service (2000–01), Minister of Women's Equality (1996–99), Minister of Housing, Recreation and Consumer Services (1995–96), and Minister Responsible for Co-operatives (1995–96).
