Isthmus of Suez
The Isthmus of Suez is the 75-mile-wide (125-km) strip of land[1] that lies between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, linking the continents of Africa and Asia. It is located within the country of Egypt and contains the Suez Canal, linking the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Like many isthmuses, it is a location of great strategic value.
Both continents were previously one large continental mass.[1][1]
