Sturgis Municipal Airport (FAA LID: 49B) is a city-owned public-use airport located four nautical miles (7 km) east of the central business district of Sturgis, a city in Meade County, South Dakota, United States.[1] According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, it is categorized as a general aviation facility.[2]

Facilities and aircraft

Sturgis Municipal Airport covers an area of 275 acres (111 ha) at an elevation of 3,243 feet (988 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 11/29 with an asphalt surface measuring 5,100 by 60 feet (1,554 x 18 m).[1]

For the 12-month period ending May 20, 2008, the airport had 23,000 aircraft operations, an average of 63 per day: 99% general aviation and 1% air taxi. At that time there were 26 aircraft based at this airport: 92% single-engine and 8% multi-engine.[1]
