St John of God Berwick Hospital

St John of God Hospital Berwick is a division of St John of God Health Care, one of the largest providers of health care services in Australia.[1]

Originally known as Berwick Hospital, the facility was taken over by St John of God Health Care in 2003.[2] The original hospital was established in 1939 as Berwick Bush Nursing Hospital.[3]

The 70-bed private facility provides medical and surgical services, and is located approximately 40 kilometres from the Central Business District in Melbourne's south-eastern growth corridor.

St John of God Hospital Berwick was named as a finalist in the 2010 Casey Business Awards, in the “Business and Professional Services Award” category.[4]

Redevelopment

A major redevelopment of the hospital was completed in 2007. The $14.5 million development included the addition of new wards, four operating theatres, a new day procedure unit, a patient lounge and a chapel.[5]

Health Choices

In 2010, St John of God Hospital Berwick launched Health Choices, a home-based nursing service operating in Victoria’s Casey/Cardinia region.[6]

Raphael House

In 2006, the hospital established the Raphael Centre Berwick, a service for families experiencing anxiety, depression or other emotional difficulties related to pregnancy or the birth of a baby.[7]
