Sohyang
So Hyang (소향) (born April 5, 1978 in Jeollanamdo, Gwangju) is a South Korean Protestant singer of the gospel genre.
She studied French at Kyunghee University. She made her debut in 1996 with the song "MR", which was released on Naver Music. Despite having a long career in South Korea, she was only able to make her international breakthrough in 2014, when she sang the American anthem at an NBA game.[1] Sohyang also achieved fame when she sang with Kirk Franklin,[2] as well as when she won 2 times on the sovereign show "Immortal Songs 2", with the song "Lean on Me"[3] and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" She also participated in I Am a Singer.
Voice and Timbre
So Hyang possesses the vocal range of a Full-lyric Soprano, spanning from E3 to A6.[4][5] She is known for her emotive and powerful vocals with characteristics being homogeneous, rounded and bright instrument of remarkable beauty and meticulous control.[6] Due to her extremely well trained middle register and vocal endurance she is able to consistently belt with resonance and power in the upper 5th octave (E5-B5), this skill has been very much well showcased all throughout her career.[7][8][9]
