SherWeb, Inc. is an hosted service provider based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. The company also has an office in Montreal. SherWeb operates in the cloud computing industry and has been in business since 1998.[1]
Business model
SherWeb offers hosted email and collaboration solutions built on Microsoft products and technologies, such as Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint Server, Microsoft Lync Server, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.[1]
Despite being a Microsoft partner, SherWeb has occasionally argued that Microsoft neglects the needs of many small and mid-size businesses.[2]
The company also provides hosting services, including Web hosting, POP3, streaming, SSL certificates, FTP, and domain name purchase and registration services.[1]
SherWeb is solely a B2B ecommerce company. It sells its products to organizations of all sizes, either directly through its bilingual website or through its global network of MSPs, VARs, and IT consultant partners.[3]
The company has also partnered with Ingram Micro, the global wholesale provider of technology products & supply chain management services. This partnership authorizes Ingram Micro’s VAR and MSP community to resell SherWeb’s SaaS solutions for the U.S. and Canadian markets only.[4]
In addition to being a long-time Microsoft partner, SherWeb has also partnered with MailChannels to use its Traffic Control anti-spam software in its Microsoft Exchange environment.
History
SherWeb was founded by brothers Peter and Matthew Cassar in 1998.
SherWeb has ranked on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 list in Canada since 2010,[5][6] and on the Deloitte North America’s Fast 500 since 2011.[7]
In January 2012, SherWeb launched an automatic online backup and recovery solution for businesses.[8]
In October 2012, SherWeb said it was the first hosting provider worldwide to launch Hosted Exchange 2013. This claim is still disputed by competing hosting provider Intermedia.[9]
In May 2013, SherWeb won Microsoft’s Hosting Partner of the Year Award.[10]
Acquisitions
SherWeb acquired DNAmail from Ikano in April 2011.[11] Then, on November 4, 2013, SherWeb announced the acquisition of Thoughtbus, a privately held brand of Nomia Inc.[12]
