Selva Rasalingam is a British actor.

Selva Rasalingam is an English-born British actor trained at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Selva has appeared on stage in the West End and for the Royal Shakespeare Company, on television in Doctor Who, Luther and Hustle, the films Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Skyfall, and as Jesus in The Gospel of John.[1][2]

Early life

Selva is dual heritage born to English and Tamil parents. Selva grew up in London and the East of England, an academically talented & artistic young person skilled in graphic art and with a love of football. He developed a passion for theatre and film, which channelled his academic studies.

Acting career

Selva's role as Jesus in The Gospel of John [1][2] conceived as the The Jesus Project and realised by the Lumo Project is well-received dramatically, historically and within the Christian community for its Biblically-accurate depiction. Filming of the Gospels spanned over five years and Selva studied diverse historical and academic sources in preparation for the role with his portrayal of Jesus bringing notable applause, Hollywood Jesuses: the Definitive Ranking

Other stage appearances include 'Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom' in the West End, and the award-winning 'The Riots' at the Tricycle Theatre, Amir in Pulitzer-Prize winning play "Disgraced" (The English Theatre Frankfurt).
