Rudolf von Ribbentrop (born 11 May 1921) is a former German wine merchant and a former Waffen-SS commander who served in World War II. He is the son of Joachim von Ribbentrop, Nazi Germany's Foreign Minister.
In February 1943 Ribbentrop was assigned to a Panzer regiment in the SS Division Leibstandarte, with which he took part in the Third Battle of Kharkov. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 15 July 1943.[1] On 1 August he was transferred to the newly formed SS Division Hitlerjugend as company commander. He took part in the battles following the Normandy landings, Falaise pocket and Battle of the Bulge. He surrendered with the division to the U.S. Army on 8 May 1945.
