Taxonomy and systematics
Originally Rudd's lark was classified as belonging to the genus Heteronyx and later within Mirafra before being moved to Heteromirafra.[3]
Previously, some authorities have also considered Archer's lark to be a subspecies of Rudd's lark (as Heteromirafra ruddi archeri). Note also that the name "long-clawed lark" has been used to describe both Rudd's lark and Archer's lark.[3][4]
