Ruben Fernandez (Spanish footballer)

Ruben Fernandez (Aviles, Spain, 1968), is a Spanish born footballer who played in the Anaheim Splash of the Continental Indoor Soccer League. He was the team's goalkeeper for four seasons, from 1994 to 1997. He was a member of the team which won the West Conference titles in 1994 and 1995. In 1995, he set a league record for Goals Against Average, and was the starting goalkeeper for the West Conference team in the 1996 All Star Game. In 1997, he was drafted by the Buffalo Blizzard of the NPSL, but decided to retire from professional indoor soccer. Ruben Fernandez spent 1998 and 1999 playing for the United States Beach soccer team in the Pro Beach Soccer Tour. Fernandez currently serves as the head coach at Godinez Fundamental HS in Santa Ana, CA. He is also an assistant coach with the United States Beach Soccer national team.
