RoweBots
RoweBots Research Inc. is a software company, based in Waterloo Region, the software capital of Canada.
RoweBots and its predecessor company Multiprocessor Toolsmiths developed a number of industry firsts in the real-time and embedded operating system space.
Products and innovations
- Unison OS, the first commercial heterogeneous multiprocessor embedded operating system fielded in early 1987. Unison was initially used in a broad set of military systems primarily for DoD. Today Unison is in its fifth major version.
- Unison version 4, the first ultra tiny nano kernel OS intended for microcontrollers with a full complement of POSIX I/O and POSIX threading (1995).
- Remedy Debugger and IDE, 1986 was the first commercial multiprocessor (or multicore) heterogenous cross development debugger with dynamic thread displays.
- CopyCat RTOS Simulator, 1985 was the first commercial operating system simulator of a real-time embedded system running on a host workstation. CopyCat had I/O capabilities for networking, file I/O and serial I/O. CopyCat was retired with the move to full POSIX implementations released in 2007.
