Roderick T. Sawyer (born April 12, 1963) is the alderman of the 6th ward of the City of Chicago, Illinois. Sawyer is the son of the late Chicago mayor Eugene Sawyer. He was first elected in 2011 after narrowly defeating incumbent Freddrenna Lyle,[1] and is currently serving his second term. Sawyer has a son named after him. Sawyer grew up in the 6th ward on the south side of Chicago. He is an alums of St. Ignatius College Prep (class of 1981). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from DePaul University, a Jurist Doctorate from the Chicago Kent College of Law.[2][3]
