Roberto Franchini (born 13 November 1973) is an Australian ice hockey player who played for the Sydney Bears of the Australian Ice Hockey League between 2006 and 2010 and is a former member of the Australian national ice hockey team.
Playing career
Roberto Franchini first played ice hockey for the Sydney Bears of the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2006. During his first season he played 26 games, scoring 14 goals and recording 19 assists.[1] In 2010 Franchini played his fifth season with the Bears and was one of the two alternate captains for the season.[2][3]
He has also played for the Bears in the New South Wales pre-season tournament, the Wilson Cup. During the 2008 tournament he played five games, scoring one goals and recording nine assists.[4]
Franchini was first called up to represent Australia in 2009 where he joined the national senior team to compete in the 2009 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A being held in Vilnius, Lithuania. Australia finished last and were relegated to Division II for the following year while Franchini recorded two points during his five games.[5] The following year Franchini rejoined the national senior team to compete in the 2010 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Mexico City, Mexico. Australia finished in second place while Frnachini scored two goals and four assists in his five games at the tournament.[6]
