Ringgold Tiger Band
The Ringgold High School Tiger Marching Band has performed during halftime shows for Ringgold Tiger Football since 1963. The first Ringgold band began with 25 members and has grown every year to over 200.
The band has received the title of Grand Champion for many of their award-winning shows, such as "The Roman Invasion", "Soldiers and Saints", "Symphonic Sounds", and their 2008 performance "A Latin Fantasy." More recent shows include 2009's "Chuck Mangione", 2010's "Dances of Carmen the Spanish Gypsy", and 2011's "A Tribute to New York" and the "10th Anniversary of 9-11". Their 2012 show was titled "Coming Home" and was the diamond anniversary of the Ringgold Band, celebrating their 75th anniversary and their return to Don Patterson Stadium after the April 27, 2011 storms forced the football team to play at nearby college University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The 2013 show for the Ringgold Marching Tiger Band was "Jo Ha Kyu", with themes from "Khan" by Julie Giroux, featuring Asian melodies, vocals, martial arts inspired visuals, and colorguard uniforms.
The RHS Marching Tiger Band represented the state of Georgia in the 2006 New York City's Veterans Day parade, 2011 Chicago Saint Patrick's Day Parade, and the 2012 New York Veteran's Day Parade, and was awarded "Band of the Year" in the Chattanooga area. This year the band was named Grand Champion of both of the competitions they attended.
Ringgold also has two jazz bands, both of which attend the region jazz performance evaluation. Every year, the band hosts a fundraising event known as Puttin' on the Ritz, which showcases the middle and high school jazz bands as well as raises the funds necessary to start the next year strong.
Ringgold is known in the district and state for having many members audition and make District Honor Band and District Honor Jazz Band, All-State Band, and All-State Jazz Band. Some Ringgold members also belong to the Chattanooga Youth Symphony.
The Ringgold Tiger Band currently has 150 members.
