Regent Taipei (Chinese: 晶華酒店; pinyin: Jīng Huá Jiǔdiàn) is a luxury hotel located in Taipei, Taiwan. It opened in 1990 as The Regent Taipei, and later became The Grand Formosa Regent before reverting to its current name.[1] It is owned and operated by Taiwan-based FIH Regent Group.
History
Regent Taipei was conceptualised in 1973 by Formosa International Hotels founder, S.R. Pan, upon the need for a luxury hotel in Taipei. This was later realised in 1984 when Y.H. Chen of Tuntex Group cooperated with Pan to build this hotel. An agreement with Regent International Hotels was signed the same year to manage the hotel. The hotel opened in 1990 as The Regent Taipei. In 2011, the hotel name was reverted to Regent Taipei after being titled Grand Formosa Regent for 17 years.[1]
In 2013, the hotel was selected by director Luc Besson, to be one of the shooting location for his film, and subsequently appeared in 2014-film Lucy.[2]

Since its opening, Regent Taipei has hosted many famous guests including Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Girls’ Generation, Maroon 5, Mariah Carey, Super Junior, CNBLUE, Diana Ross, Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise, Norman Reedus, Keanu Reeves, Sophie Marceau, model Cindy Crawford, designer Vivienne Westwood, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Lakers player Jeremy Lin.

In addition to the eight restaurants, Regent Taipei also houses Regent Galleria, a luxury shopping mall which is home to numerous international brands like Goyard, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Bang & Olufsen. Also located within Regent Galleria is one of the seven international branches of Paris-based, Japanese patisserie, Sadaharu Aoki.[4]
