Rangana Premaratne ( born 12 January 1959), is a Sri Lankan film/teledrama actor, producer and television personality. He has appeared in over 100 films/teledramas and earned numerous accolades.
Career
As Actor
Rangana began his career as a stage-drama actor in the early 80s acting in the famous stage-drama 'Sajan Nallathambi' which was one of the first Sri Lankan plays to be a financial success. It was hugely popular, even playing in the Middle East to Sinhala audiences.
Rangana began his teledrama career acting in the teledrama 'Gamana' in 1987 directed by veteran K A W Perera. Doing numerous roles in different dramas he gradually became a significant icon in the country's teledrama industry. He became the shining star in the country's teledrama industry with his award winning performance in the famous teledrama 'Manokaya' in 1998.
As Producer
In the year 2001, Rangana expanded his career as a teledrama producer. Rangana in partnership with Kelum Shiromala (his wife) produced the famous teledrama 'Randunu' in which he played the main role as well of a politician. The Duo together produced 6 teledramas in 6 consecutive years (2001–2006) which includes award winning dramas like Punchi Rala & Ruwata Ruwa.
