Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) is the first social business institution in Indonesia.[1] PSF is Indonesia's leading consultant for, and operator of, corporate social responsibility programs. The Foundation is a countrywide operation, aiming to provide quality education for Indonesian students, especially those from financially disadvantaged families; job creation through entrepreneurship development; public enlightenment through the empowerment of women; and the distribution of aid and relief programs for disaster recovery.

History

In 2001, the chairman of Sampoerna Strategic Group, Putera Sampoerna,established the Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF). PSF is chaired by his daughter, Michelle Sampoerna.

Since its establishment in 2001, Putera Sampoerna Foundation has disbursed more than 34,600 scholarships, organized workshops for more than 19,000 teachers and headmasters, and adopted 23 public schools and 5 Islamic elementary schools (madrasah).

In 2009, Putera Sampoerna Foundation established an international standard boarding school at high school level, called Sampoerna Academy; a higher education to produce quality future educators, called the Sampoerna School of Education, which serves as the first step towards establishing a world-class university; and launched the Sampoerna School of Business in 2010 which aims to create high quality of entrepreneurs in Indonesia.

Putera Sampoerna Foundation is the first social business organization that receives the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for standardized quality management system. Putera Sampoerna Foundation is periodically audited by independent international auditors and the audit results are published in the Putera Sampoerna Foundation annual reports.

Business units

PSF has several business units: Koperasi Siswa Bangsa, Sampoerna Academies, School Development Outreach, Sahabat Wanita, Bait Al-Kamil, and MEKAR. The largest unit, constituting roughly one-half of all foundation personnel, is the foundation's university entitled Universitas Siswa Bangsa Internasional.
