Polygamy in Bhutan

Polygamy is legal in Bhutan regarding the consent of future wives.[1] There is no legal recognition granted to polygamous spouses under civil law or customary law.

Extent

Both polygamy and polyandry are very prevalent in Bhutan,[2] particularly in the south where it is the most accepted.[3]
