Phoenix Magazine, has a monthly circulation of 4,000, and is the debut publications of is the student newspaper of Phoenix Communications VA. Launching in late January 2011, Phoenix Magazine covers the East Roanoke County area(including Vinton, Bonsack and Mount Pleasant) as well as the Western Bedford County area. There will be something for everyone each month with articles covering a full range of topics by, for and about this area. This full color monthly magazine is available at retail outlets throughout the Roanoke Valley, the Phoenix Communications VA office and by subscription.

Debut Issue

The first issue of the magazine was released to the public on February 1, 2011, featuring two cover stories: one on the Miss Smith Mountain Lake Scholarship Pageant and one on William Byrd High School's famed Big Orange wrestling tournament. The cover featured reigning Miss Smith Mountain Lake Ashley Faucher and William Byrd wrestler Garfield Harris. Inside offered a variety of stories, including a review of Vinton's The Barbeque Grill, a story on local band Relinquish, a business feature on OMA Training and many more unique and one of a kind profiles and feature stories.

In the Spring of 2011, the first special issue, an annual known as The Vinton Key, is to be released. This magazine will act as a guide specifically for the Town of Vinton, highlighting events and organizations, as well as having a complete listing of businesses in the town for visitors and "Vintonites" alike
